4.7 As someone who travels frequently for work, I often find myself in situations where knowing the local language can make a significant difference. For example, during a recent trip to Germany, I used Busuu to brush up on my German skills. I would sit in my hotel room each morning, practicing phrases that I knew I would need for meetings and casual conversations. The app's real-life conversation feature allowed me to practice greetings and common business phrases, which made my interactions much smoother.
Additionally, I use Busuu during my daily commute. Instead of scrolling through social media, I dedicate 20 minutes each day to complete a lesson. This routine has not only made my commute more productive but has also helped me steadily progress in my language learning journey.
The user interface of Busuu is clean and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a dashboard that displays my progress and upcoming lessons. The workflow is straightforward; I can easily select a lesson, complete exercises, and track my improvement over time. The app's performance is impressive, with minimal loading times and smooth transitions between exercises.
One of my favorite aspects of the app is the gamification of learning. Earning points and badges for completing lessons adds an element of fun and competition, motivating me to keep going. Overall, my experience with Busuu has been overwhelmingly positive, as it has made language learning enjoyable and accessible.
Busuu offers a free version with limited access to features, but I opted for the premium subscription to unlock the full potential of the app. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the extensive resources available. The premium plan provides access to all courses, personalized study plans, and the ability to practice with native speakers, which I found invaluable for my learning experience.
Busuu regularly updates its app to enhance user experience and introduce new features. I appreciate the commitment to continuous improvement, as I have noticed new exercises and content being added frequently. The support team is also responsive; I had a minor issue with my account, and they resolved it quickly through their customer service chat feature. This level of support gives me confidence in the app's reliability.
As an American user, I take security and privacy seriously, and I was pleased to find that Busuu is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. The app requires users to register with an email address, and while it does ask for some personal data, I felt comfortable providing it as the app has a clear privacy policy outlining how my information would be used.
Busuu does not bombard users with ads, which is a significant plus for me. Instead, the app focuses on providing a seamless learning experience without distractions. Additionally, I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior, which is reassuring. Overall, I feel that my data is secure while using Busuu, allowing me to focus on my language learning without concerns about privacy.

Three years on. Subscription won't sync between devices. Progress won't sync. But at least the useless leader board points sync. Excellent priorities. Refunding subscription. Again. (Don't offer to help. This is basic functionality. Get it right.) Another year, another year of not being able to access the app. App logged out. Won't let me log in. Won't send a password reset. Still took my money.

I was considering buying a premium subscription after Duolingo lapsed, but no more. The ads to buy premium are egregiously in your face, popping up at least 10 times per lesson, completely covering the screen. The other ads are the worst kind, too, find the x or the >> three times in a row for the scammy apps you've seen a million times before. And on top of that, the lesson often fails to load after you finish the ad, and you have to do it all over again. All huge red flags. No thx

I switched from Duo because they force feed so many new words, I couldn't remember them. I began to notice the AI voices would mispronounce a lot of words. Busuu is nice in that along with AI, there are videos of real speakers so not only can you hear them pronounce the words correctly, you can see how they move their mouths. My only problem is in Latin Spanish, progress is stuck on 1% fluent and no words are being added to vocabulary review, whereas I'm not having that problem w/ Italian.

Learning Korean Great app I find myself really enjoying the lessons. The lessons aren't overwhelming. 12 days in and I can understand most words. They aren't punishing free customers for not paying for a subscription. What I would change 1. Going back within a lesson; accidentally hit continue and had to restart the lesson (this might be a paid subscription feature) 2. Adding all words to the dictionary (again might be a paid subscription feature) Overall great app Highly recommend

UPDATE: Serves ads but course content no longer loads! Useless! Better than Duo, but over a mere week they've become so aggressive about advertising Premium at every opportunity I am no longer considering purchasing a subscription, especially considering they can't be bothered to create speech segments that actually work. It doesn't matter how simple the word or sentence, how fast or slow I speak, whether there's background noise, it just fails me every time. Also takes forever to load.
