4.5 Mondly: Learn 41 Languages is a robust language-learning app that stands out for its engaging features and user-friendly design. Here are some of the core highlights that make it a go-to choice for language enthusiasts:
As someone who travels frequently for work, I often find myself in situations where knowing the local language can make a significant difference. For example, during a recent business trip to Germany, I used Mondly to brush up on my German skills. I practiced common phrases and vocabulary related to business meetings and dining out. The app's focus on practical language use helped me navigate conversations with colleagues and locals, making my trip much more enjoyable and productive.
The user interface of Mondly is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through lessons and features. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that allowed me to jump straight into my lessons. The workflow is seamless; I could easily switch between vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation exercises without feeling lost. The performance of the app has been consistently smooth, with minimal loading times. Overall, my experience has been positive, as I felt motivated to learn and engage with the content.
Mondly offers a free version with limited access to lessons, but for those serious about language learning, the premium subscription is worth considering. The pricing is competitive, with options for monthly, yearly, or lifetime subscriptions. I opted for the yearly plan, which provided me with full access to all languages and features, making it a cost-effective choice for my learning journey.
The app is regularly updated with new content and features, which keeps the learning experience fresh. I appreciate the prompt customer support; whenever I had questions or encountered issues, the support team was quick to respond. This level of attention to user feedback shows that Mondly is committed to improving its platform and ensuring a positive experience for its users.
As an American user, I take security and privacy seriously, and Mondly addresses these concerns effectively. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards of these platforms. When registering, I was required to provide minimal personal data, which is a plus for privacy-conscious users. Additionally, Mondly does not bombard users with ads, and I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior while using the app. This focus on user privacy makes me feel more comfortable using the app for my language-learning needs.

Great for language learning from a company that knows how to craft educational materials. The lessons are short and well organized with a variety available to keep your interest. There is actual scaffolding from known to unknown and sneaky learning by context thrown in, as well. I was honestly not sure what to expect after trying a bunch of other language apps. I tried the demo and was sold almost right away. No regrets since.

It's fine. It's no different from any other popular language app except supposedly more correct to native speakers. It does not explain grammar or the reasons for word use and sentence structure or formatting which is a total failure for all current popular language apps in my opinion. I don't want to memorize things, I want to understand them. It's very different.

Great for vocabulary. I was doing Dutch lessons, so your results may vary on this. The primary way to do grammar and sentence structure would have been with full-sentence questions and answers, but every single sentence question was always the first answer. Once I noticed this (about 3 days in), it became difficult to gain much from those questions. About a week in, I messaged the support team, and was told it was being investigated, but after the third month, I was usually using other apps

It's pretty good for Chinese and Indonesian, but for Tagalog the it's a bit strange. For example, the feature where you can click underlined words to get translations or conjugation threw me off in my most recent lesson when I touched "kayo" for a translation. It led to a conjugation of "uminom" every time and the pronunciation definitely was stock AI versus a native speaker. There's some work to be done, and hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Great vocabulary and good lessons. You can bookmark and save phrases, but there isn't a way to do a lesson of just your saved phrases. Saved phrases go on a list and you can play them, but it plays so fast that it isn't useful for review. it would be great if it could make custom lessons from saved phrases or at least play the list of saved words slowly enough to and with translation so you could listen and review. wish there was an option for when you can't listen/hear during lessons
