Real Experience Using "LinkedIn: Jobs & Business News"

Application Scenarios

As a marketing professional, I find myself using the LinkedIn app daily. Whether I’m on my morning commute or taking a break at work, I often scroll through my news feed to catch up on industry news and updates from my connections. Recently, I was looking to switch jobs, and I utilized the job search feature extensively. I set up job alerts for specific roles and received notifications as soon as new positions were posted. This proactive approach allowed me to apply quickly and stand out among other candidates.

User Experience

The user interface of the LinkedIn app is sleek and intuitive. Navigating through different sections, such as the job search, news feed, and profile management, is seamless. I particularly enjoy the clean layout of the job listings, which makes it easy to skim through opportunities. The performance is generally smooth, with quick loading times and minimal glitches. I appreciate the personalized touch in my news feed, which often features posts from my connections and articles that align with my interests. Overall, using the app feels engaging and productive, making it a staple in my daily routine.

Pricing

LinkedIn: Jobs & Business News is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for job seekers and professionals alike. However, there are premium subscription options available that offer additional features, such as enhanced job insights and the ability to see who viewed your profile. I’ve considered upgrading to a premium account, especially for the added visibility it provides during my job search.

Updates & Support

The app is regularly updated, which is evident in the new features and improvements I’ve noticed over time. LinkedIn’s support team is responsive, and I’ve had a positive experience when reaching out for assistance with account issues. The help center is comprehensive, providing answers to common questions and troubleshooting tips, which is reassuring for users who may encounter problems.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and LinkedIn takes these concerns seriously. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my name, email address, and work history, which is standard for professional networking platforms.

LinkedIn does utilize ads and tracking behavior to enhance user experience and target relevant content. However, I appreciate that they provide options to manage privacy settings, allowing me to control who can see my profile and activity. Overall, I feel secure using the app, knowing that LinkedIn is committed to protecting user data while providing a valuable networking experience.

Be careful with the free trials. I didn't receive a notification that my trial expired so they charged my credit card automatically. I saw the charge and they have a 7-day cancellation policy after that charge to get reimbursed fully. I looked for the cancellation option, which was not easy to find, and must have accidentally clicked the 'who viewed my profile' button, which counted as using a premium feature during the free cancellation period voiding the reimbursement option. Very frustrating!

does just about everything the website does. I personally think the menus need a little work with job searching, its kinda annoying how I cant see all my applications and then just filter to applied from there. but that's just me. also in dark mode, you cannot see the text on the achievements after completing the puzzle games. it only shows the icons. I think its because its white text on a white background. if that could get fixed, I'll up my rating to 5 stars.

During an intensive job search, the least helpful jobs LinkedIn could show me are the jobs I've already applied through LinkedIn. That would sure be helpful. Also, maybe make it easier to submit feedback about the app while in the app so its not left as an app review. The AI "support" was far less helpful or efficient as a human could have been.

this app has the most obnoxious notifications setup I've ever seen. there are so many groups and categories that look almost identical, it's hard to figure out how to tell it that I only want one type of notification. I don't care if someone they think I'm interested in - but don't know at all - made a post. I'm getting red of the app and will rely on the Web instance instead since it's far less intrusive.

Cannot log in ever (different Gmail account). Every time, it says that I have to verify my identity with Persona and a government ID. it takes over a month to process (this last time, it's been so long that I don't actually remember when I did it, but it says it's still processing my request) and I only get one log in before I have to do it all again. This basically makes it so I cannot use the app at all, or log in on a computer.
